1/2 cup white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp cream of tarter
1/4 tsp salt
Cream shortening, sugars, and eggs. Add remaining ingredients. Add flour until you get a soft dough. Roll dough in balls the size of walnuts. Roll balls in 2 parts sugar to 1 part cinnamon. Place on baking sheet and bake at 350' for about 10 minutes.
makes approximately 3 dozen

one quick question..... greased or ungreased baking sheet?
Greased, but... as with all cookies you only need to grease the pan the first time. After that the cookies themselves leave enough grease. The first time put the very barest of grease on that is possivle. Greased cookie sheets brown the edges of cookies and ruin their uniform color.
